But this Body Weighs Only a Little Over 50kg….

image-2So I’m staring at this slim figure which weighs a little over 50kg and I’m wondering…. If this is all there is to this body why is there such a great distance between its intellect and its intuition? Why the gap between the state if its senses and the state of its heart? Why do both its thoughts and emotions transcend deeper than where its feet stop and why are its aspirations above where its head begins? But yet its eyes show that for a truth that this body is as small as its reflection portrays. Yet the same eyes show past experiences and past pain. So now I see that these eyes are capable of seeing past its owner’s current physical appearance to sometimes seeing into its owner’s past.

And I’m amazed.

This body weighs a little over 50kg and sometimes in periods of great difficulty it feels like it’s carrying a little over 50kg on it’s shoulders alone. Same body, same weight and yet in times of great exhilaration it feels like it’s light enough to take flight.

This body’s entirety weighs a little over 50kg yet sometimes it seems to bear this same weight in its heart alone.  On such days, in such moments, this body becomes grateful for components such as its mind and its hands. Without which it may not have been able to think or write. To me, its greatest gift is the ability to do both simultaneously. For this body- this one in particular- writes the weight of its worries away and equally writes its joys to serve as reminders to stay.

I’ve accepted the mystery of this body will never be fully understood. For though the minds of great men are honoured; the hearts of generous men are appreciated; and the handiwork of skillful men are praised…. To me they all form part of the mystery of this body for a body must always embody all these wonderful gifts.

I’m grateful to be a human.

What is the cost of a life?

I’ve heard and read that we find our lives when we lose it. But then again, how do we lose this life and find it while still living? Simple. Because there are more ways to lose a life than mortal death itself.

We lose our lives when we place higher values on the welfare, thoughts, conditions and total being of another over ourselves. War, strife, coup, greed and the unlawful desire of domination over fellow men are all results of disregarding the value of the lives affected or worse, disregarding even their humanity.

Let’s begin to look at our fellow man in the eyes of his entirety and not through the eyes of how we measure alongside him. Let’s accept our fellow man as a person. May our wars be converted to battles of love, our strife to striving for unity, our coups to cooperation, our greed to generosity and our unlawful desires to respect for human rights.

If we can achieve this in our homes, schools, offices, religious places and communities, then we would be aiding the struggle for peace. Before making peace with foreigners, strive for peace among your own locals. And above all forms of peace is inner peace -a state of mind which even money does not automatically give.

MY LIFE IS WONDERFUL!

Choose not to compare your life with others because you’re the only one living your copy.

I just read these words, “…don’t think of anyone’s life as happy until it is over, because all the evidence is not in until the person is dead”.

These words are soothing. It brings you back to the sharp reality that anyone can make his or her life appear like the best but a life is best assessed when it is over.

So let’s all stop imagining our cases are the very worst. They’re not. I never heard of a case where feeling sorry for yourself helped you feel better.
